Celebration Tomorrow

Hello Families,Image result for Malletts Bay School Oscar, the Osprey

Your children set a goal for our class to make 17 quick and quiet transitions. They met their goal a bit ago and we would like to celebrate that tomorrow.

We have decided that the kids can bring in a pillow OR blanket, a stuffed animal and wear pjs or comfy clothes.

We will take our spelling test and Unit 3 math test in the morning. Our afternoon will also include a rated G movie. We have some choices in our room and will make a decision together of which one. The movies are as follows:

  • Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder version)
  • Finding Nemo
  • The Fox and the Hound
  • The Trumpet of the Swan (from an E.B. White children’s book)
  • The Princess and the Frog
  • Snow Buddies
  • Space Buddies
  • Charlotte’s Web (the people version, not the cartoon)
  •  Brother Bear

Should you have a concern on one of the titles, please email me.

I will bring in my air popper, so that we can have popcorn, too.
Thank you for your time.

Happy Vacation to you all!
Heather

Flynn Theatre presents…

Hello Families,

Just as a reminder, the fourth graders of Malletts Bay School will be going to the Flynn Theatre tomorrow to see Vermont Abenaki Artists. We will be learning about their dance, music, and also their folktales, among having this artistic experience.

Thank you to our grown- ups for giving us all permission to attend this performance.

The buses will leave MBS by 9:00 am and we will return in time for lunch.

I have discussed some with your children about dress for the theatre. As we are going to the Flynn this is a time for theatre type clothing. I told the girls that they do not need to wear dresses and skirts, as it will be windy in Burlington, but nicer clothing would be appreciated. Also, the boys need not wear suits, but nice pants and a shirt would be appropriate, too.

Thank you again.

Spelling City for this Week

Hello Kiddos,

Just want you to know that I put up an assignment list of games to use for practicing your spelling/ vocabulary words, on Spelling City. I hope that it is helpful to you. Remember, you just may not take the spelling test (the last assignment), as that is for Friday at school.

Also, be SURE to finish up ALL of your spelling work for this week, as we will correct it tomorrow, in class.
Happy Spelling!!!

Thank you and have a great night.

Love,
Mrs. Longchamp

Hello Families:

Hello Everyone,

I am so glad that so many of you were able to attend our Open House earlier this year. It was so nice to finally put a grown- up face to your child. I also want to thank others who have come into our classroom and said, “Hello,” to me, too. I love to see what the other part of my students’ lives are like- aka home life.

I have signed you up for our blog this year. Should you not want to get it, you can “unsign” yourself, too. However, this is where you will get insight into our school days together. You will find our schedule for the days, as well as our Unified Arts schedule for the year (When does my child need to wear sneakers?) and our Nightly Homework site that will be updated every evening. Please feel free to look around.

Thank you again for sharing your children with me. I am very pleased to be the classroom teacher of this wonderful bunch of kiddos.

Shelburne Museum Trip!!!

When: tomorrow- Tuesday, June 13

What time: the bus will leave MBS at about 8:30 and we will meet you there about 9:15 (We will be putting 7 classes of students on 3 buses, so we do not have space for chaperones. Sorry.)

What to bring: lunch, water bottle(s)- no glass, snack, rain coat or umbrella, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes

Chaperones:  Mr. Blais, Mrs. Burt, Ms. Vannarsdall, Mrs. Bauerly, Ms. Guy, Mrs. George, Ms. Lefebvre, Mrs. Frost, Mrs. Tompkins

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for volunteering to come with us tomorrow.  You will make this a wonderful memory for so many children.         I will have your group of students with name tags of the same color as yours. You will spend the day together. (Though you will not need this I will give you my phone number so you can call me if you need assistance with a group member or is you should need to leave for some reason.) You will go together to at least 3 of the Passport to Learning “classes, ” and then the rest of the day is of your group’s choice.  The Museum will give us the times of the “seminars” when we get there.

Let’s meet at the cafeteria space for lunch around 11:30. Afterward  you are welcome to visit the museum spaces some more.

Then at 1:45 begin walking to the front of the Museum where we will do our final count of the students. Buses will be boarded  and we will leave by 2:00 to make the bus rides home on time.

I am very sorry but no chaperones will be able to ride on our bused as we are putting 7 classes of students on 3 buses. We will be packed like sardines!!!

Also, if you signed out your child already, please just wait to leave until I am up at the front entrance to take the rest of your group from you.

THANK YOU!!!!! again.

Hope for sun!

See you at the Shelburne Museum at about 9:15.
